Terrance Doyle

Concert Photographer, USA

I'm more thoughtful and methodical with my photography as a result of this training. I have since shot my first festival and moved up in ranks among one of the Web Mags I shoot for. I now get access to pick available shows 24/48 hours before the rest of my photo team.

1. What did you think about concert photography BEFORE enrolling in Shooting The Rockstars?

I have been shooting for local media outlets for a couple of years but never really made the industry connections or properly networked as I should have. I'm pre occupied before a gig and tend to be somewhat introverted. I never made the effort to "put myself out there" in the photo pit. I also felt like my work was not as good as it should be, making the same forgetful mistakes and getting the same mediocre results.

2. What did you think about concert photography AFTER going through the training?

After completing Matthias’ course, not only did I improve on some of the technical issues I was having, I introduced myself to the other members, made a few friends and got exclusive access to other members allowing me to create the professional network I so badly needed. Concert photography in general has become less intimidating, which in my opinion allows me to focus more on the shoot and has resulted in an overall increase in quality of my work.

3. What big problem were you facing BEFORE
Shooting The Rockstars? What from Shooting The Rockstars helped you solved that problem?

I had a huge problem with taking WAY to many photos and spending hours and hours culling photos, mostly looking at shot after shot of the same subject with just a slight variance. I've learned to wait for the shot and I feel like my eye is bit more keen on what to look for, such as shots with the whole band and background in frame, being mindful of mic stands, cords and other distractions.

4. What specific results have you achieved as the result of this training? Please be as specific as possible.

I'm more thoughtful and methodical with my photography as a result of this training. I have since shot my first festival and moved up in ranks among one of the Web Mags I shoot for. I now get access to pick available shows 24/48 hours before the rest of my photo team.

5. What would you tell another "new student" of Shooting The Rockstars? What words of advice would you have now that you've gone through the program?

You wont find anything like this anywhere else and if you are serious about your passion, this course can be an invaluable tool that will definitely help propel your vision in the right direction. You are who you surround yourself with and you could not be with a better group of people that are in this community.
